Scholarship Description:
With its merit-based scholarship program, the University of Hamburg supports outstanding international students and doctoral candidates of all subjects and all levels of study who have been socially committed and engaged in an international context. The awarding of a merit-based scholarship enables the scholarship recipients to concentrate fully on their studies and to further develop their skills.

Benefits of the scholarship:
The maximum amount of the monthly support is 850 €. Depending on the availability of funds, individual doctoral students can receive a performance grant totaling €1,000 per month (approx. 2-3 performance grants are awarded per round).

Admission requirements:

  • Have been enrolled in your subject at Universität Hamburg for at least 2 semesters and are aiming for a degree (students in 2-year master’s programs and doctoral students can apply after 1 semester );
  • Do not have German citizenship;
  • Are not eligible for the federal student loan program.

  • Ratings from 2 professors or junior professors at Universität Hamburg. In justified cases, other lecturers at Universität Hamburg can also prepare reports.
