Antoine Griezmann has already got his Liverpool wish as £43m rumours emerge Liverpool are lining up a €50million (£43m) bid for Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann this summer, according to reports emerging from Spain.
El Gol Digital claim that the Catalan club’s financial troubles could see them cash in on the 30-year-old at the end of the season. The article states that Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Griezmann, and the Reds are apparently willing to pay big money in order to bring him to Anfield.
While such speculation seems hugely unlikely, it is not the first time the Frenchman has been linked with a move to Merseyside and the World Cup winner has previously stated his admiration of the Premier League giants.
Indeed, Liverpool has already played their part in making his title-winning wish come true. In an interview with Sky Sports in July 2019, Griezmann admitted he’d love to see Liverpool “one day” win the Premier League again.
“In terms of teams I admire Liverpool because of the fans,” he said. “Hopefully one day they will win the league again.” Just a month before the aforementioned interview with the Frenchman, he was very quick to congratulate Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino on Instagram, following the side’s Champions League final win over Tottenham in the 2018/19 campaign.
However, it appears Liverpool isn’t the only club ‘interested’ in Griezmann’s services, with former club Atletico Madrid keen. Atleti’s president Enrique Cerezo recently admitted that he wants to bring the Barcelona man back to the Spanish Capital One day.
Speaking on El Larguero, as per Marca, Cerezo said: “Any team would be crazy about having Griezmann. “He’s a magnificent player and I hope to get him back, but I don’t think Barcelona wants to sell him.
He’s had magnificent seasons here and was built at Atletico.” Griezmann has scored 17 goals in all competitions for Barça this season, with the forward still having another three years remaining on his deal at the Camp Nou.
